Historical Town of Ronda

Ronda is one of the most popular and historical mountain towns in Andalucia due to its amazing views and historical landsites. The town of Ronda is located 50km from San Pedro Alcantara, 100km from Malaga City and has a population of aprox 35,000 people.

El Tajo de Ronda is the main reason tourists from all around the world come to visit Ronda as this point of the town has a 100 metre drop with breathtaking views of the Rio Guadalquivir and the Mountain range called the Serrania de Ronda. Across town walking through a number of small cobbled streets is also the Puente Nuevo which connects the two sides of Ronda town and took 34 years to build due to the difficulty of the land position and height differences but was finally completed in 1793. The Parador of Ronda located in Plaza España is also a must visit as it used to be the former town hall and is now a hotel next to Puente Nuevo with amazing panoramic views.

Ronda is also famous as being one of the first places in Spain to host modern bullfighting and the Plaza de Toros (Bullring) called Real Maestranza which was built in 1785 is now a museum that can be visited by all visitors exploring this charming town. There are still some Roman and Moorish influence in Ronda which can be seen by the Arab baths and the Mondragon Palace which has beautiful peaceful gardens. Another place to visit 20km outside of Ronda are the Roman ruins that was home to the Ancinipo theatre.

Ronda has many nice local and international restaurants for both locals and tourists to enjoy. Many offer a selection of different tapas and different wines as-well as there being a number of small boutique shops all around town.
